Samsung Galaxy S II Smartphone
Samsung announced on Monday it had sold 10m Samsung Galaxy S II smartphones since the phone’s launch in April.
The announcement comes after the device had strong word-wide sales shortly after its launch. The Samsung Galaxy S II sold a total of 3m units 55 days after its launch, and 5m devices 85 days after its launch.
In a statement, Samsung said,”…with this record, Galaxy S2 has become the fastest ten million sold Samsung phone in all time, breaking the records of the company’s previous international hit models Star Phone and Galaxy S which took 6 and 7 months respectively for ten million sales”.
Some analysts say that the Galaxy S II competes with the current iPhone, and the next iPhone that’s rumoured to launch early next month.
The Samsung Galaxy S II was launched in South Korea on April 28, in Australia on June 1, and in the US on September 16 by one carrier, followed by two more US carriers in October.
