The judge has criticized the case by the prosecution suggesting it was built on the infamy of a dead celebrity.
Stern and Drs. Khristine Eroshevich and Sandeep Kapoor are facing charges of using false names to obtain the drugs which fuelled Anna Nicole Smith’s addiction.
They have not been charged with her death, back in February of 2007.
A medical examiner in Florida ruled that her death was an accidental overdose which involved a lethal mix of prescription drugs.
On Monday, the defense and prosecution both rested their cases which will now be left in the hands of the judge as to whether or not the charges will be reduced or dismissed.
Ana Nicole Smith, best known for her role as a Playboy Bunny, is no stranger to court before or after her death.
She was married to former Billionaire J. Howard Marshall.
Within weeks of his death, Smith and her husband’s son, held a long publicized legal case over her claim for part of her late husband’s expansive estate.
