Norwegian Thor Hushovd, who finished in third place yesterday, won the second stage of the Tour de France 2011 on Sunday. This is Hushovd’s team,’s Garmin-Cervelo, first win of the Tour de France. Team Garmin-Cervelo finished the time trial in 24 minutes, 48 seconds.
The second stage of the Tour de France is a 23km time trial with the start and finish line in Les Essarts. Teams start the time trial seven minutes apart, with the finish time recorded when the fifth rider crosses the finish line.
Australia’s Cadel Evans team, BMC, finished second – just four seconds behind the winner. The British team, Sky, finished third. Five teams finished the time trial within five seconds.
The Trou de France stage three begins on July 4 and is 198km long. The third stage of the race is between Olonne ser Mer to Redon, with much of the route on the coast. Wind is expected to be the most significant challenge, followed by a category climb from Cote du Pont de Saint-Nazaire.
