On the day she would have turned 28 Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch Winehouse announced the launch of the Amy Winehouse Foundation to commemorate her birthday.

Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on July 23. A postmortem was inconclusive in determining the cause of her death, and toxicology results published weeks later reported that no drugs or alcohol were present the singer-songwriter’s system.

In August 2011, Winehouse’s final album Back to Black became the 21st century’s best selling album in the UK.

Mitch Winehouse also announced the release of his late daughter’s final recording called “Body and Soul”, recorded with Tony Bennett on March 23 2011 at Abby Road Studios in London. The Amy Winehouse Foundation made a video of the recording available on its website and proceeds from the sale of the song will go to the Foundation.

The investigation into Amy Winehouse’s death continues, and a report is expected to be released during late October.
