Lady Gaga picked up three prizes this weekend at the MTV Europe Music Awards, which was held in Madrid this Sunday.
Although the controversial singer was not present to redeem her prizes, she accepted the awards for best pop act, best female singer and best song via video link, as she has was in Budapest for a concert.

The 24-year old singer appeared to accept her third prize wearing a folded piece of plastic, proof of her controversial outfits. “I wish so much that I could be there” stated Lady Gaga through video.
US artists dominated the MTV Europe Awards, and Kate Perry also won the best video category with “California Girls”. Best male prize was, however, won by a non-American.
Canadian 16-year-old singer Justin Bieber took the best male prize at the MTV Europe Awards this year, surpassing famous singers like Kanye West and Eminem.
MTV Europe Awards was opened by Shakira and Dizzee Rascal, the British rapper, and through the night, the stage was taken by Miley Cyrus, Kid Rock and Kings of Leon. Rihanna’s performance was the highlight of the evening, while Bon Jovi held the closing act after they received the first Global Icon award.
