Movie “The Social Network” Number 1 at Box Offices After This Weekend

The Facebook movie entitled “The Social Network” hit $23m after rolling in theaters this weekend and took over the first place at box offices according to estimations of the studio.

The movie is based on telling the story of the popular social networking platform, Facebook, and has played in 2,800 theaters from the US and Canada, reaching an average per theater number amounting $8,300.

“The Social Network” was made by Colombia Pictures, a worldwide renowned film studio, and was directed by David Fincher.

The studio has expressed high hopes for the movie to compete for the next Oscars, after seeing such a positive response from the public in US and Canada.

Studio statistics revealed that the audience comprised around 53 per cent women and over 55 per cent of the people that went to the theaters this weekend to see the movie were adults of 25 years old and over.

The studio is satisfied with the audience since “The Social Network” is a drama, specifically aimed at adults.

Other debuts that ranked high at box offices are “Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” that landed at number two and “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps” that came in third.
