Neil Diamond, an American singer-songwriter popular during 1960s to 1980s, announced his engagement to Katie McNeil on Wednesday via Twitter.
Diamond’s tweet read, “Good news coming from sunny LA/ and you’re the first I want to tell/ Katie & I just got engaged/ and I hope you wish us well. Neil”. The tweet was followed by a link to a photo of Katie McNeil along with the message, “I’d like you to meet Katie. I’m lovestruck”.
Diamond was most popular during between the 1960s and 1980s; however, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 14 2011. Diamond has a loyal fan following and continues to tour even though record sales declined after the 1980s. As of 2001 Diamond had sold 115m records wordwide and is considered the third most successful adult contemporary artist.
Diamond, aged 70, was married and divorced two times and has two children from each marriage.
Katie McNeil, aged 40, is an American TV executive producer and music manger, best known for her work on an American reality series called SureShot which aired in 2007. McNeil also produced a 2009 documentary about Diamond called ‘Neil Diamond: Hot August Night NYC’.
