Subsequent to pressure from the government to restrict access of porn through Blackberry smart phones, Research In Motion announced that it will install filters that will prevent pornographic content from being downloaded to the cell phone. Indonesia is a big market as there are more than 2 million users of Blackberry in the country.

The country has also placed a common demand is many other countries have made – opening a local server in the country for the authorities to enjoy easy access to encrypted data.
Demand for better control over porn sites and compliance with anti-pornography laws of this populated Muslim nation in the world was issued by its Communications and Information Minister. Research In Motion was prompt in acknowledging the request and expressed its commitment to put up a proper filtering solution as early as possible.
Being one of the faster growing market for Blackberry, Research In Motion cannot afford to antagonize the Indonesian government.
The system is very popular primarily for its unlimited security enjoyed by the users.
However, this USP is suspect now as governments and other agencies put pressure for access to encrypted data.
