Former Lebanese Information minister Michel Samaha reportedly confessed to transferring explosives from Syria to Lebanon

Former Lebanese Information minister Michel Samaha confessed on Thursday to transferring explosives from Syria to Lebanon. Samaha’s driver confirmed the former minister’s involvement in the plot.Sources say the bomb plot was reportedly an assassination attempt against Akkar MP Khaled Daher. Sources added approximately 20 bombs deployed in various areas of Akkar and were ready to detonate by remote.

Samaha was taken from his home in Khanshara at 2am local time and detained. Police confiscated documents, a computer, cellular phones video tapes, plus Samaha’s car.

Samaha was elected as an MP in 1992and served as Information Minister in 1992 and 2003.
