Thor Hushovd wins Tour de France stage 13

Norwegian Thor Hushovd claimed his ninth personal stage win when he crossed the line at the end of stage 13 of the Tour de France on Friday.

In the second of three days in the Pyrenees, featured a number of climbs and coasts: one category three, one category four, and one category HC (hors catégorie or very difficult) climb over a distance of 152.5km.

Frank Schleck finished in second place for the day 1min 49sec followed by Cadel Evans at 2min 6sec off the finish. The overall standings remained the same.

Four cyclists withdrew from the race or did not start: Lars Boom, Andreas Kloden, Gert Steegmans, and Vladimir Isaichev, bringing the total number of riders out of the race to 27.

The leaders in the various standings are as follows:

  • Overall: Thomas Voekler of France at 55h 49min 57sec
  • Points: Mark Cavendish with 264 points
  • King of the Mountains: Jeremy Roy with 45pts
  • Team: Team Garmin-Cervelo with 166hh 54min 52sec
  • Youth: Arnold Jaennesson with 52h 55min 47sec
