There were reports of broken windows along the US Occupy march against police brutality march route, including a flag pole that was thrown through a restaurant window in Southeast Belmont in Portland, Oregon.
Police said that shortly after the march began, a standoff ensued between the protesters and riot police. Traffic was halted as officers tried to move protesters onto the pavements.
Riot police then cleared the streets and the crowd began to dissipate, leading to skirmishes with some members in the Occupy group.
A 15-year-old boy was among the people arrested for disorderly conduct and interfering with officers.
