The royal family is now represented on Facebook through Britain’s queen. Queen Elizabeth signed-up on Facebook to offer updates about the royal family, just as other accounts the family has on YouTube, Twitter and Flickr.

Although the Facebook page of the queen is strictly limited, users cannot become friends with Queen Elizabeth nor send her messages, it gained already 60,000 fans by Monday evening.

Now, 60,000 people will receive updates with regard to diary events and royal news through the ‘fan’ option on Facebook.

The royal account does not contain any personal information about Queen Elizabeth such as political views, relationship status or interests. However, the royal family has stayed up-to-date with the latest happening in the world of the internet and technology.

As previously mentioned, royal accounts have also been created on social network platform Twitter, photo sharing website Flickr and video sharing website YouTube.

Back in 2008, Queen Elizabeth posted a video on YouTube during her visit to the Google offices located in London. The accounts kept coming in, as last year the British monarchy created a Twitter account, which was joined by a Flickr one this year and now one on Facebook.
