Robert and Angie Meeker announce pre-funding for The Kurdish Cookbook

Robert and Angie Meeker announce they are currently writing a Kurdish cookbook in English to meet the demand for Kurdish recipes written in English.

“We have loved Kurdish food since we first tried it while living in the Kurdish region of Northern Iraq between 2006 and 2008. We found almost all Kurdish recipes are written in Kurdish, Arabic, Latini, or French, plus they often do not use standard measures,” explains Angie Meeker.

Meeker commented the Kurdish cookbook needs funding to get started – which she says they would like to do by March 20, the celebration of the Kurdish New Year called Newroz.

Meeker explained they are using Kickstarter to pre-fund their Kurdish cookbook saying, “We are pre-funding this book before we write it so that we can do things like hire quality photographers, buy groceries and purchase meals at a Kurdish restaurant, pay the families who will be cooking with us, and things like that.”

According to Meeker, they currently have about 40 Kurdish recipes completed.

Kickstarter is a way to fund creative projects that uses an all-or-nothing approach to funding: the project must get completely funded as described or no money changes hands.
