Wsupnow.com, the popular gay event website is now available as an iPhone application free.
After a strong response following the official release of their Wsup Now app in early April, Wsup Co., the parent company, will be making the gay iphone app free indefinitely.
“Not surprisingly, we saw record downloads for our app that week and we’ve seen strong momentum since” said Stuart Leung, founder of Wsup Now. “It shows the demand for a simple, app that focuses on gay and lesbian-related events.’
Like the website, the Wsup Now app serves as a gay and lesbian event discovery tool, providing locals and tourists instant access to hundreds of LGBT-related events nearby. According to the company, it has quickly become a must-have app for those interested in navigating gay and lesbian nightlife.
The comany says the key features in Wsup Now include:
One-Touch Discovery: As Grindr utilizes geo-location to show you who are nearby, the app displays gay events that are closest to you.
Network Agnostic: The app doesn’t need Facebook, nor require a network of friends. Events
Social Event Photo: Like Instagram, users can share their event photos from within the app – a fun way for users to share and a useful tool for venue owners.
The company says he Wsup Now app captures gay and lesbian nightlife activity — from drag shows to club nights to monthly parties to cultural events in six U.S. destinations — New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Seattle.
Leung commented, even though the app covers thousands of events a month, he recognizes that he has only scratched the surface. “It’s not an easy task to gather every gay and lesbian event in one city, especially in a cities like San Francisco or New York.”
“With that said, we’re in it for the long haul and doing our best to expand to other cities,” Leung continued. “However, we want to make sure we’re representing the city’s accurately before we dive into new metros,” added Leung.
Leung added, with more cities on the horizon, the Wsup Now app is positioned to reshape how gays and lesbians, whether they’re a local or just visiting, find events and parties nearby, all over the United States.
Because the app provides a simple method to discover events and promote them, the app has the potential to disrupt the LGBT nightlife, for the better, explained Leung.
“Being the first comprehensive events listing app for the gay community,” said Leung, “we believe the app is a game-changer for our community.”
Normally priced at $1.99, the Wsup Now app is available to download for free indefinitely from the iTunes store.
